Serbia to host 1,000th session of Council of Europe;
Serbia will host the 1,000th session of the Council of Europe (CoE) next week, which will be attended by the ambassadors of all 47 member countries, the CoE office in Serbia said on Thursday. The 1,000th session, scheduled for June 22 in Belgrade, will be opened by Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić, who presides over the CoE Committee of Ministers, the CoE office said in a statement. The historic meeting is a part of Serbia's six-month presidency of the CoE Committee of Ministers, it said, adding that the motto of Serbia's presidency is "One Europe, Our Europe." Founded in 1949 with only 10 members, the Council of Europe has developed into a European intergovernmental human rights body, which seeks to develop throughout Europe common and democratic principles based on the European Convention on Human Rights and other reference texts on the protection of individuals. Serbian President Boris Tadić will address the session to speak about the state of democracy in Europe and the world, as well as CoE Secretary General Terry Davies. CoE Human Rights Commissioner Thomas Hammarberg will participate in the discussions, and a special declaration should be adopted at the end of the session.

Wow Nenad, this is one of my favourite blogs!!!
